Probably as a kid, Raya is mostly-anticipated due to the money collection project.
(p/s: kids, just wait until you get older and the role switches from receiver to giver ~ see how you countdown to Raya then, lol!)
And obviously, the higher the amount, the happier the kid gets, naturally(dlm hati dh plan apa nak beli dsb).
But last year, I think I received my most meaningful duit raya, probably ever.
It had nothing to do with big numbers, at all.
But it has everything to do with the fact that it was given by my youngest sister, who is still in primary school, and unemployed (she was 8 last year).
I think it was 2nd or 3rd day of Raya and it was at night, after dinner, when she knocked at my door.
She came in and approached me, extending her tiny hands.
Adik: "Kak nisa, duit raya."
Me (taking her offer): "Siapa bagi?"
Adik: "Saya la."
Me: (terkejut) "Erk~! Awk bagi Kak Nisa?"
Adik: "Iyeee. .~" <-- she had this expression as if it's completely common that an 8 year old gives out duit raya
Me (still tkejut): "Mana awk dapat duit?"
Adik (muka calculated + bashful): "Daripada duit raya saya."
Wahhhh. . Tak tahu nak cakap apa dah.
*terharu*
I smiled and thanked her for it as she exited my room.
In my mind I was wondering what was it in her little head that triggered the action. I certainly never thought about giving other people duit raya when I was her age >.<
This year she did it again. One more duit raya from the little kid :)
I don't plan on using the ones that she gave me. It's now in safekeeping. Maybe one day in the future I'll frame it?
Kids. . They never fail to surprise me ^_^
Thank you Hazirah ^-^
